Some of you might remember me, some of you have forgotten me, most of you have probably never met me, but I've been here for a while.

I'm taking my former college ride/daily driver, and building it for SCCA autocross competition in C-Prepared.

A little history first. I bought the car back in 2000. Then it was a well option V6 car. Slower than dirt, but it had cool t-tops. I drove it like this for a while, making minor improvements. Eventually, I build a Vortec headed 350 for it and had some fun running around in it. After a few failed emissions tests it got parked and I kinda forgot about it. I started autocrossing (then my daily driver) and always wished I had a faster car to make a project out of. A good friend of mine then reminded me of that Camaro in my garage...

Here is a quick list of what I have and what is to come:

1981 Camaro, stripped down to bare shell
14pt S&W cage
16x14 and 16x12 wheels (14" wide rear radial slick, 12" wide front)
Kirkey Seats
Home-made subframe connectors
Fiberglass front clip, flares, hood, doors, and decklid
Lexan front and rear glass (no side glass)
SPC upper control arms
Howe lower control arms
Custom 3-Link rear suspension
Koni coilovers
Ford 9" Rear (upper 4.86 gears)
Custom front and rear (blade) sway bars
377ci SBC
Jerico WC4 4-speed

Plus probably a few other things I'm forgetting...

Back when I brought her home for the first time...

Then Pat and I put a new motor in...

I found this build in grassroots motor sports a post from three years ago. I miss being on here more often. This forum has so much to offer. I’ve been here since since 1997 maybe earlier. I got caught in the great reset when the website went down.
I looked for instagram and would like to follow. It’s going to take a while to read 112 pages!!
Great build!

Thank you! I don't really have an instagram. I've considered setting one up, and with the new "rebuild" maybe I should.

1997! So you got me by two years. Glad you found your way back. Thanks for the kind words.

Hey Paul!!

Do you have any details on your hood hinges that you installed? Interested in adding those to my car as well.

I started with this kit - https://www.summitracing.com/parts/aaf-all18523
I only wound up using half of the kit.

I put one of each tab on the outside of the hood, and bonded a backing plate to the inside of the hood to connect the two together with some small bolts.

I had to make the fender side brackets myself.

I'll grab some photos this weekend and do a better job detailing out what I did.

I know it's been quiet here. Big home remodel has taken most of the time and resources, but things are starting back up.

This is my first attempt at a 3D model and the first print, but it's a really promising start. ABS will likely be a 2026 upgrade, but might as well get started now. I think I might end up being the only car out there with ABS and Wide Five hubs when this is all done.

I'm going to be using a non-DSC RX8 ABS module. Room for a sensor is tight, so I'm hoping the RX8 sensor can read the teeth from the side. Going to do some refinements and updates to the print to get things dialed in, and then I'll send the code off to be made out of metal and do some testing.

In the meantime, I have a whole slew of updates stacked up and ready to go. Should be picking up steam in the coming weeks!
