Ive upped my hp,car was built for 500hp,and now Im past there.
So,I was looking at going solid mounts in the near future, and was wondering on everyone's experiences as far as the transmount.
I noticed after pulling my trans my rubber transmount was toast,at 10k miles.
So I was thinking of going to a poly trans mount after I installed the steel solids.
Was not sure how that would play out with my tailshaft on the trans.
Car is not drag raced, just street beating.

I had always heard that you should use solid mounts in all three locations but was always concerned about putting a solid mount on the transmission so I always went with rubber on the transmission with solid motor mounts on my 468 bbc 600ish fwhp/ power glide Camaro and never had issues. We recently built a 427 bbc, 520 fwhp, for our 65 impala street car and used all solid steel mounts in all three locations with muncie M20 and 3.73 12 bolt posi with no issues after 3K hard shifting miles so maybe it’s not a big concern on a car like that, but I think the Muncie tail housing is a bit more robust than like a th350 for example.

Solid mounts and a mid plate here, regular rubber trans mount tightened with 1/4 ratchet only. I could
Leave the trans mount off totally and leave it float.

Start with a new rubber mount.

Unless you have fully welded in frame connectors and Y braces and you know you’ve taken out the F in the F body, then try Urethane

I used rubber mounts on the engine, but I stick a piece of moderately hard rubber into the area where the two metal halves can move and lock. It greatly limits movement of the mount but still provides the noise/vibration isolation of a stock mount.

I used to go through driver-side motor mounts almost once every couple of years, but this setup has been lasting almost 10 years now.

On one of those motortrend shows,Tony Angelo squirted 3m urethane window set in the stock rubber motormounts to stiffen them up.

I think I'll go solid on motor, and poly on trans.
Seems like if youre mushy back there on the tail, its not an issue, but if youre too stiff back there,it can be.
