I am work on a 1979 ST-10 from a Z. I have never driven the car so I cannot report any problems. That being the case, I disassembled the transmission to inspect it.

I am having trouble differentiating between acceptable wear and problems with the gears. I have reviewed a number of guides on the internet, but still am unable to differentiate.

Below are pictures of the gears. do any of them look like they need to be replaced?

look good but I would use a tootsie roll or diamond file and DE-BURR the edges. also put new 2nd and 3rd sychro's in it since you have it torn down.

Looking at the gear engagement lugs will tell the story here. Don't be focused only on gear face wear. Hubs, Sliders and Forks are what you also need to be looking at/replacing. And new syncros everywhere. Bearings and small parts kit.
Get that countershaft and counter gear out and look at it, replace all the needle bearings. A bunch of guys do rebuilds, don't ever touch it, and then wonder why it's noisy in neutral.

And..... I've never, ever had a Muncie apart where I haven't had to replace 2nd gear.

Thank you all. It looks like someone rebuilt it not too miles ago. Syncros teeth have hardly any wear, but the 1/2 fork has some odd wear/rubbing on the top of the fork. I will replace it. I ordered the kit from 5speeds.com. It seems to be the most complete, with the needles, etc.
Now that I know what to look for, here are some better pictures of the areas of concern.

My list of replacement parts thus far is: Reverse, reverse idler, input/fourth gear, third gear, 3/4 fork, and the parts that come in the kit.

I need to look closer at the first and second gears and the sliders (then again, what else is there!)
