With Michigan being in the midst of a winter deep freeze, there has not been a lot of activity on the Project lately. We did manage to drag it out for the Grand Rapids Autorama in mid-January. We featured it in our Western Michigan Camaro Club display in the show. We had a nice 9 car display with a Used Car Lot theme with 4 cars fanned out on each side of Project DZ74. We won Best Club Display at the show, too!

Anyway, here's a few pics from the show ..........

When the weather breaks enough for it to be comfortable out in the garage again, we'll concentrate on finishing up several details, including the AC install. I'm ready to put some miles on that puppy this summer!

I will be the first to say pictures do not do his car the justice it deserves !

Doug, Ray, Matt and everone else who had their hands in on this project are due for a standing ovation......................Nice job guys !

I have a few pics. of the car from the Burger show somewhere on one of my cameras, and I might add were not easy to get due to the crowd around the car every time I went up there.....

My hat is off to you Doug, it is wonderful to see the great foundation of friends that became one for a great cause to get your dream back on the road.....

See you @ the Metro Cruise 09.................

Thanks for the compliment, Jeff. It means a lot coming from you because you're such a hard core Camaro guy. It was nice for the Club to get some recognition for all the time and effort that went into the car.

Steve: The white 3rd Gen belongs to a Club member named James and is an '85 IROC-Z that has been updated with an LS1 and a 6 speed trans. He's running 4 wheel disc brakes and 18" custom Bonspeed wheels all around. It's EXTREMELY clean and spotless underneath. The car has great attention to detail through out. It's one of my favorite cars in our Club.

You have one of, if not the best 74-77's i've ever seen. I love the look of everything you did. Hell of a job man. Congrats on such a nice car.

Hey Venom!

Wow, it's been a while since I checked on my build thread, so sorry for the delay in thanking you on the compliments !!!!!!!!!

I managed to get a few of the unfinished details addressed over the summer (but not all yet.) I think I have the stance dialed in after some trial and error. Then we discovered the 4 bbl was not working properly. With a slight adjustment to the choke rod (on the Quadrajet) I all of a sudden have secondaries that work. Wow, what a difference. LOL I was a little disappointed in the performance, but now it's where I expected it to be. Vroom!

I took it on one long, across the state trip to a big car show and it knocked down about 16 1/5 mpg. I was expecting a little more, but it still is not fully broken in yet. I can still feel it getting better and better, so hopefully the mpg will still go up some too.

I never got the AC installed this summer, so that's the last remaining BIG project and we'll tackle that over the winter/spring and have it ready for next summer.

Thanks again for the nice comments. I'm over the nervousness of a newly rebuilt car and really starting to trust and enjoy it now. :)

I completely agree. I'm always for something a little different but still clean at the same time. When I was building my 69' Ponty, I was working on a turbocharged OHC-6 engine. I know I could make more power with a different setup but I wanted it to be something people looked at (and the time slips) and went "wow, never would have thought of that", but still like the way it looked and worked together. Your car does that, good job!

Doug,

If I ever make some progress on my wifes 74 IROC, it will look like we copied your car! The exception being the flared fenders, window straps and the hood scoop...

BTW, I noticed your air dam is unique and a bit different! Was that custom fabbed or something modified from a Kamei design?
