Started off tonight by loosening the fenders at the A pillar to move them out some. I wanted to see how much movement it would take to get the hood to fit again. Once I got the fenders moved out I started trying to square the gaps up on the hood. Overall it looks decent. The front nose / hood gap is tight in the middle. I will have to address that. The sides look pretty decent though.

This confuses me, maybe someone has some input about this. The gaps are decent but while opening the hood it rubs on the driver side and has a big gap on the passenger....

The passenger side hood arch is above the fender arch. While trying to help bend the arch down I made a boo boo....

No big deal just need to get a stud welder to put a lil tension to pop them back out. After that I figured it was a good stopping point. The doors have not been touched at all and this is how far the fender came out to allow for the hood gaps.

I have quite a few shims on both sides to move my fenders out.. all my Camaros were that way and I would think it strange if you didnt have any in there originally.

Mine did have 2 thick shims on each side. I added a very thin shim to each side and I think the lines look pretty good.

Keep in mind Matt, these cars were built in the '70's. Even from the factory the gaps weren't all that perfect and even.

Also, if that is a Goodmark hood (read, Chinese hood...) you'll never get decent gapping on it. They are built out-of-square. I've seen posts on here of guys having a nightmare of a time trying to gap a Camaro around a hood that will never gap correctly.

I've got one on my '71 and have decent spacing down each side, but it's way off across the front behind the header panel, at the "point" in the hood. I'm talking about nearly a half inch gap on one side, the passenger side if I remember correctly, while the gap behind the header on the drivers' side is more correct, around a 1/4". The hood is the culprit. And short of major surgery, you'll never get it right. I have two Goodmark hoods, and I'll be selling them both to obtain AMD cowl hoods, a completely new design.

Oh yea lol. Overall fit this hood is pretty good. But as you said it takes work to get a decent fit. But its nice to see gaps in the fender / hood again LOL
