Ok, we're having nice weather right now so I decided to take a closer look at it. Here is a captioned picture of what is going on. The mystery red with white stripe wire that goes through the firewall is not connected to anything, and I can't seem to pick up any power with my test light. With the lights on or off.

If you're using the original wiring, it may be time for an update. Plus the headlights may be trying to draw more power than the switch can handle. I added a relay harness with the updated headlights on mine. It really helps with the headlight brightness and lightens the load on your headlight and dimmer switch. Bought the harness on Ebay.

Yeah I would remove all that garbage- what I can’t see is the tan wire …does it still connect to the switch? Maybe at one time he powered up some aftermarket driving lights or fog lights with the low beam circuit…

That's a good guess! I tried looking in wiring diagrams for a pink with white stripe wire going through the firewall, but I couldn't find one. I wasn't having any problems after I pulled all that crap out. I didn't realize what a tangled mess it really was. I wasn't having any problems with the lights last night in my driveway. I'll report back if I have any more issues. Usually they only happen when I leave the house haha.

Pull the dimmer off the floor and remove the plug and look at both the terminals inside the plug and the brass terminals on the switch- anything darkened or melted is because of resistance (pi$$ poor connections build up heat really good like soldering iron hot)
