I was dreading this job. This thread was very helpful.

driver side: I was able to get a distributor wrench on all three nuts. That was some good luck.

Pass side: did it just like Diego.

I won’t be reinstalling just yet. Got some degreasing to do, but I plan to use the “upside down” method when I do.

A big thanks to @sandiego74 !

If you’re pulling bolts through from the bottom… a piece of craft (floral) wire wraps in the threads perfectly.
(The bolt is a pretty close fit through the hole so the thread wrap technique doesn’t make the bolt wider.)

Pull the bolts through the frame and mount, clip the bolt with a needle-nose vise grips, drop a lock washer on the bolt and thread the nut.

Hit the nut with an impact wrench and you shouldn’t even need a wrench on the bolt head to get it tight! :D

Great advice! Thx.

Definitely LOVE the part about not having to snake back in through the control arm opening. Ugh

Another question. @Ratty_81 mentioned accidentally installing the mounts upside down. Maybe they were after market design?

I am using stock replacements (pictured). Am I correct in assuming that there is no “correct side up/down”?

Well, obviously, I never get in a hurry to do anything….. :lush: …..but I installed the new Anchor motor mounts yesterday using the upside down bolt and floral wire trick. It worked great!

A big thx to @Twisted_Metal and @sandiego74 for the awesome tips! This time was MUCH easier that last time I did it in 1992. Admittedly, having the engine out helped lol. But seriously, the tips those two guys provided are golden.

Bonus, it turns out that the Anchor motor mounts are made in the USA. PN 2292 from Rock Auto, 1979 Camaro. I added the paint.
