I've had a couple third gens but decided to go 2nd this time and found this roller for $800 and it's a peach.

It is a NY car so it's got some rust. Lower rear quarters in the back and lower front fender back on drivers side. Two spots in the floor have been "patched" not well, gonna have to redo them and the tail panel is pretty rough on the passenger side. The goal is pro touring with some custom body mods and I have a vortec 5.3 to swap in. First mod is the nose peice going 79 split bumper. The only reason I question the Z is because the only thing I see is 373 posi rear and some one put fenders on it.

Where did you get that idea for the split bumper (for a 79)? Will an early 2nd gen grill fit? Have you tried this before? I'm just guessing you've already done all the research since you cut the nose already.

what is this front end supposed to look like finished? do you have a pic for reference? Just curious because I have not seen anything like this on a 78-81 before.

The only way I see this looking great is by using another upper middle section on the underside to make the opening even from a side profile view. Otherwise the lower chin looks like a horrible under bite.

seconded the symmetry , although I would suggest making a whole new urethane bumper using fiberglass/carbon fiber over a clay mold. It would turn out much better that way.
