Make sure to pop out your front window before starting any welding on your firewall. You might find more rotted metal under the lower portion of the window. Great progress so far. Brings back memories. LOL

Here's what I got done today.. Now I need to order that trim tool so I can take off the trim in order to get out the windows, then the whole car is completely stripped down to the bare shell.... ohh yea, I have to take off the fins on the quarter panel... I need to get some money together so I can get some inner and outer wheel houses, and some quarter skins, and the passenger side outer rocker panel...

Wanted to see how pitted the rust was on the quarters, so I cleaned them up in a few spots and sprayed them right away... not to bad, except the drivers quarter has about 1/4" of bondo on it LOL...

Does anyone know how to get the emergency brake cable out of the firewall?? I ordered the trim removal tool so I can take off the trim for the front and back window, then I can take out the windows...

Disconnect it from the pedal assembly. It slides out the side. Then you need to squeeze the prongs on the parking brake cable and slide it out through the firewall. If you get a couple of them started and keep pressure applied you can then start pushing one in at a time.

You're just looking for a core? If so, I could probably help you find one. I bought my standard bore 455 complete carb to pan for $550.00.

As already mentioned, there are no big/small block Pontiac V8's.

The cost to build a 350/400/455 will all be about the same. What heads came with the 350 (stock would have been "6H" with 2.11/1.66 valves)? Those heads may be good for a 9 to 1 compression ratio 455 (even though they would have 7.6 on a '75 350).

I put a set of 1971 "96" 400 heads on my 455 to increase compression to 9.5. The "96's" are big valve heads (2.11/1.77).

I'm very happy with my new 462 that replaced my original numbers matching 389 in my '64 GTO converticle. I'm storing the original - but based on the "fun to drive" quotient of the 462 I doubt that I will ever put the 389 back in...;)

This is what I got done this weekend... Now I can grind, weld, primer, and paint without worrying about getting the neighbor's cars dusty, or getting over spray on them... and I won't get burned from the sun...

This is what I got done today.... It was interesting, but it did work good with NO problems at all, my wife and I were able to lift the car, now I have plenty of room underneath to do what I got to do...
