What did you do about the rear spoiler alignment? Those always fit horrible from the factory...and it seemed like especially so on the later 2nd gens...the gaps between the center and ends was always wonky (uneven gaps), and the height between them was usually off some too.

Well, I am not doing the work. but I know the driver side piece needed repair. Mine, from memory, lined up really well on height and position. I don't remember the gaps, but I am sure this guy made sure they were right before he peeled everything apart.

I am going by Monday we will see what they have done. The glass is going in and he was working on the trunk gasket and putting the lid on today.

NICE! I know how you are pleased with the results. I did the same amount of coats and sanding between coats with the clear on my 80 (and am currently doing the same with my 70) as you are on your 81. Doing it that way REALLY gives you a glass like finish.

Here's a pic of the deck lid on my 80. You can see the reflection of the tree branches is as sharp off the deck lid as it is off the glass. Yours looks exactly the same.

Looking forward to seeing the continued progress.
Your spoiler has a great line from what I can see and nice gaps!

Thank you! The way I looked at it, when the cars were originally designed, they were molded in clay. Everything lined up. That was how they were "supposed" to look. But assembly reality had a different idea of how things would "actually" look. I wanted that original clay-molded look, so I took my time and got it to line up as well as I could. Oh, and if the spoiler didn't line up, either would the decal that runs across the back...and I was going to have none of that.

Here are a few more shots so you can how I got it dialed in.

When it's lined up, it really adds to the car. But when the alignment it off, I think it really takes away from the look...but then again, I'm very picky.

Hopefully your guy did the same with your spoiler. I would think he would, given the extra effort put into that magnificent paint he laid out it it!

My case in point with how poorly the spoilers lined up on the back of these cars. Here's an 81 currently listed on BaT. That thing just screams out for attention...and not the good kind either.

Ack.

Those are super tight and look really good. The one on BaT looks really bad. I can deal with a little wideness in the gap if it is equal, but not the wide top and narrow at bottom.
