Specifically, this is the CPP C5 spindle for our camaros. Been looking for this hub and they are currently in unobtainium category. If I remember correctly, the design features of the hub helped keep the wheel on the car in the event of a bearing failure (or something to that effect). Is there an alternative that folks are using?

Did you buy the CPP part and have it fail?

Ah - so the GM hub is actually not that great. The only one I've found that stands up is the SKF X-Tracker. They reposition the bearing rows to make them much more durable. It's the same part# for front and rear, all of them have splines
They are expensive, and worth it.

Strano unusually keeps a few sets on the shelf.

I have C7 hubs on the C5 spindles on my 73 Camaro. Went that way based on previous comments so I never used a C5 hub.

Interesting - for C5 guys it won't work as the ABS sensor is missing, but great find for the swap-folks

@ErikNORCAL, I bought the CPP conversion. One of my hubs did end up going bad. It started growling after a while. They sent me a new one. That one seems fine. Then about a year later I got a call or email from them that they found some kind of quality excursion on the hubs they had shipped out and they wanted to proactively replace them. So they sent me another set. I haven't put that set on yet because my car has been in the body shop for the last 2 years.

Wow, great to know! Glad to hear they did have some sort of quality control follow up. Installed the spindles years ago and have only logged a handful of miles. I’m probably not on anyone’s radar if they had to follow up hence the making the swap. It’s nice to see the spindles can be purchased bare, it wasn’t an available option at the time.
