Folks
Please see pic. Is the idea to get the flex hose over the Steel Barb Line or just butt up to it? I should have marked the old line before I cut it off but it looks like I installed it over the barb when I did the tank decades ago. Are we trying to get it over the barb or just butt the hose up to the

barb? It is a carb, non fuel injection system.

Thanks

Thank you guys.
Yep, got them over the barb and the positioning looks as per my original pic.
Thanks for the help!

I don't recall any hose not having some type of clamp on it, except the vacuum advance unit.

I happened upon a Chevy Tech "Know How" booklet (that our service dept was getting ready to throw out) which indicated how to install hose clamps on hoses.

Basically, once the hose is over the barb, push the hose farther so there is enough space to install a hose clamp. The clamp should be just past the barb. In the case of the Corbin spring clamp, the clamp would be placed right at the barb. With a worm-drive or flat clamp, the edge nearest the barb should be just where the hose gets past the barb. NOT at the end of the hose or so close to the barb that it cuts into the hose itself.

End result, the sealing function ends at the base of the barb. Not farther at the end of the hose. Kind of like the assembly manual indicates where the clamp is placed, in many cases.
