This is an old post. so I'm sorry for resurrecting it.

Car has been running, but I havent started it in like two weeks. Should have a full tank of gas. Just changed all three belts the other day (A/C, PS and Alt). Did not change anything else.

Went to test it out, spins over and doesn't start.

Sprayed starter fluid in carb, still nothing.
Checked spark at the dizzy, looks good (Inline light tester). Only thing I didn't do was place the inline tester on the plugs, but I figure. if its sending power at the dizzy it would be going to the plugs. Hooked it up on at least two different plug connections.

I honestly don't know what else to check. It hasn't been touched otherwise.

One thing of note is that the negative from battery is connected to the steel alt mount for ground That connection seems pretty warm, after trying to start it.

Thoughts? Turns over strong. I dont get it.

Where is the negative battery terminal connected?

The Positive side of the battery should be connected to the starter/solenoid.
