I brought out my 'z' for the first time since the pandemic,Fired up fine,washed/waxed him and took for a slow drive around the neighborhood, and pop.pop.died-no spark.I hoofed it home and grabbed a set of tools and parts-swapped the condenser all fine,The points and condenser were 20+ years old. Dist hasn't been out at least since the,so I pulled it and dropped in a spare so I can play with the original.Questions are in regards to inside parts. Middle shaft.cam piece, vac advance.Distributor is original, date code 1 f 24 date [11d build] I also have very early removed 1 L 13 distributor I've had for 30+ years I remember a million years ago a thread on lt-1 dist parts [Mr RS Z28 days} but cant' find anything on search other than swap meet listings for $500-$1000 -REALLY RIGHT! any way below are what part#'s I could find on both niether have same so here goe.
-----------------------------------------------1F 24-----------------------1L13
Vac Can ------------------------------------459 10--------------------- 437 15
Middle shaft---------------------------------210W----------------------786W
Cam lobe piece[trips points]------------532CCW------------------- 724 CCW

I believe from early 80's auto shop the 10 + 15 on vac cans is/are degrees of advance The 1 L 13 has the original weights and springs, the 1F 24 has transdapt weights and 1 heavy and 1 light spring [was that way when I bought in '93] both may have been messed with I see the 1F24 has the pigtail "plugged" in upside down I know they go in from inside out so some one groped with it in the past other than weights.
I'd like to see which numbers if any of the internals are correct and maybe send it off for curving-no one here does this anymore.
GOOGLE is no longer my friend, all I get are ads ads ads for any inquiry I make on anything no information! Thanks in advance Nasty Bros-Later Steve!

Hey Mark! knew you'd have something. The numbers I listed are stamped in the various parts,I can't find complete numbers as your list shows.I thought the inner shaft and cam piece were shaped different for various advance configurations? don't remember if that info was from here or the 1980- auto shop class. We sure did work with the sun distributor machine and I remember the instructor [Fred Foster] have us take them apart to remove the rubber advance limiter from the shaft tang and even grind the inner shaft top piece to modify advance add heavier weights and lighter springs [you had to buy at Whitlock .]"AUTO PARADISE" a salvage yard was said to donate the distibutors-we had barrels of them as cores and each student got one core[your brand of choice],had to look up the dist number with a book, find the sun tune-up card/sheet,disassemble and refurbish and tune it to stock spec for grade, then you could work with Fred and "modify" it for hypothetical performance for "extra credit" meaning you got to work on real cars later-faculty and friends and family! Thanks so far Steve!!

I have a Sun 504 Distributor machine and re-do distributors for people all of the time. I can go thru your distributor and re-use all of your parts and give you the specifications when I am done. I have the original Sun Specification sheets and I'll include a copy.

I typically completely disassemble the distributor, clean the 55 year old gunk from the internals and replace the bushings if needed. I can sand blast the housing, if you want or just leave it as is after cleaning, by hand, in my solvent tank.

I actually do this service for FREE and all you have to pay for are parts or send me your new parts and I'll install them. It really is a free service.

I just put a price in the Craigslist ad to keep the abusers away.

Message me if you want more info.
I have a 70 Z and a 56 Chevy...

That emery board that you snagged from your wife, and put in your glove compartment, would have cleaned the rust from the points, and saved you from the "walk of shame" Been There, Done That!

Hey Mark, that cam piece is what has 532,724 ccw stamped in bottom of it.GRR 456,I'll drop you a line later this month when I get some free time,Jstich,The point file would'nt have helped-the condenser crapped I could see the Melted lead on it BUT the small toolbox I always carry behind the seat has/had points/condenser test light and basic hand tools to do the job was on the driveway next to the vacuum I used to clean the carpet it sat on!!!!!! Guess the parts under the cap are a crapshoot numbers wise-Later Steve!!
