Ok, so I want to run a staggered setup on my 79', with wider wheels in the back and smaller up front. I want to run something like a 19x11/12 rear and 18x9/9.5 front. I see a lot of cars like this with the Forgeline style wheel setup that is really popular, but I am not exactly sure how this is achieved. Is this just done with altering the wheel wells alone like tubbing? I know it can be done even with the stock leaf suspension in the rear. When I shop wheels a lot of places only list the stock sizes that will fit the car even though I know those same wheels come in wider sizes. So what is the easiest way to run these sizes w/o altering suspension setup? Looking to do something like this car. Car is not for racing just cruising.

That's an amazing Z, love the stance and Air DAM ... It looks like the fenders are widen a bit, look at the curve in the rear.
Indeed. I love the way concave wheels look on it as well. I want a similar look without having to spend 10k for wheels. Forgeline is over the top for what I want to do with the car, but not in my budget anyway. Have seen some Forgestar's like this that are much more affordable.

That car is awesome! Can you post more pics? I'd like to see that rear spoiler. I've tried to picture some kind of retro styling on my '81. I love the 70-73 but they were simply out of my range.

Looks like the headlight bezels are mounted on the wrong sides.
(There IS a left and right on those parts.)

<edit> After watching the vid... Pretty sure he has two driver's side headlight bezels installed.

Everything else on that car is really sweet!

I have the following, and one of the back rims is pretty close to the inner fender. I do have the lips rolled, and I could maybe go an inch wider max, the inside offset can’t change for me. I also feel there is some horizontal “slop” that has to be taken into consideration, you need some wiggle room.

Rims
Front:
PN: 695-8861G
Ridler 695 18x8
Offset: 0mm
GREY W/MACHINED LIP

Rear:

Ridler 695 18x9.5
Offset: 6mm

They look great, those 9.5's look wider than they sound, that is about the profile I'm looking for as well. Gonna run coilovers in the front to drop a little bit. Gonna replace the leafs that came on mine with a Hotchkis set for now, probably use adjustables on the rear and coils on the front to get it dialed in. It's funny, a year ago I didn't know much beyond the basics for cars, now I could probably strip an engine and rebuild it all because I bought a 79 sitting in a field. Always wanted either a Z or a Trans Am, now I at least have 1 of the 2.

That's a very nice Z, and a killer stance for sure....

But there's a reason why most wheel manufacturers sell a lot of the (17/18" & 19" rims) in the 9.5" wide for the rear and 8" wide for the front for our cars. Fitment and tire choices for both width and aspect ratio being ready available in many rubber performance levels from many tire companies. Diameter goes up along with the price.

Getting a 19x11/12 in the rear and 18x9/9.5 to fit on our cars that have been, or will be lowered with that stance takes work on both ends......and modifications including suspension components in most cases. Running these rims w/o alterations and the term easy don't go together very well.....oxymoron.

That Z in the pic has a link type rear suspension, be it canted or in-line, maybe DSE ?? and the front uses a rack & pinion as well, nothing near stock front end components on that ride, not to mention the front fenders are flared, and the front inner wheel wells removed.

For a cruiser, 9.5" in the rear with the correct BS based on rear location and 8" in the front with 5" BS without causing headaches on a lowered setup. With a 9" rim, go 5.5 BS.

good luck.
