Hello All,
I am putting a new fuel tank during the restoration of my 73. Anybody know the proper color for the tank? The one I purchased is grey. I think mine from my OG 73 was silver. The one I took out of this car was painted black. I am trying to keep this car to as close as possible to the correct color scheme. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Eastwood has a product that may work well for gas tanks. I have not used it so I cannot endorse. It seems to be the product that is needed. Has anyone used this product and give us a review of your results and satisfaction. I live in North Carolina so I am good.

Eastwood 10030Z Tank-Tone Metallic Coating

Eastwood's Tank Tone is more than just gas-tank paint...metallic coating also helps prevent rust! Get that factory OEM look plus corrosion protection Formulated with zinc to prevent corrosion No primer needed 13-oz. filled aerosol can covers 8 sq. ft. 10-15% Gloss level 300°F Heat resistance Two cans recommended for complete coverage of most gas tanks Don't mistake this for ordinary silver gas-tank paint! This fuel-tank paint actually contains zinc to help protect your gas tank from rust. Note: Not for sale in California

The OP wrote "I am putting a new fuel tank during the restoration of my 73" ..............so what is all this talk
about applying "crap" 1K AEROSOL paint ............

Spectra Premium makes this tank................https://ecat.spectrapremium.com/en/parts/GM42B
which I believe is mfg from GALVANIZED Sheet Steel...............

I believe Jim McCune has a tank that is Stainless .......Jim your tank looks very shiny like Dino Grazino's Red 73 I saw at the Natl's

I can also tell you that at last weekend's Camaro Natl's there was a LEGENDS Quality 73 RED Camaro with a STAINLESS
Fuel Tank that looked very sharp..........

Jim McCune's 73 Camaro Galvainized tank oln the right

I would only spray Fluid Film or BoeShield T9 or COSMOLINE on the Stainless Tank and then wipe off gently after it "drys"

I’d be fine buying a reproduction tank but heard the necks aren’t correct and the oem fuel cap won’t fit the opening? Is that true?

Thanks!
