You know, I saw this listed but didn't look that close at it. How in the hell is this an 8700 mile car???!!!!You're right, it's got Z28 "bezels" instead of the correct decals, and that shot of the tail end, the car is missing the tape stripe on the top. And a few things don't work quite right that should on a low mileage car, no? Hmmmmm....

I question the accuracy of that mileage number. Wrong emblems, and a terrible looking engine compartment. Wow, and it sold for $15,000. Not to brag, but my car blows this one away. I wonder what I should ask if I were selling it?

How about a picture of your 77 with the original steelgards? Well, I just received a package that I recently bid on and won on E bay, a set of 44 issues of Autoweek from 1977.We listed earlier in this thread all the magazines that any of us has found so far that featured articles on the '77 Z28, and there was an article in a Feb 1977 issue of autoweek about the release of the '77 Z, but I always wondered if they ever did a Road test on the car, so when I saw this, I sprung for $10 bucks and won them. The 44 that I got were missing several issues from the Spring of 1977, but the ones I received didn't have any other mention of the car. I did, however, find a nice ad saluting AJ Foyt's victory in the IROC series, which included a photo of his car during a race, and it includes the "Z28" logo on the fender in it's proper place. I'll scan that and post it later. Don't know if any of the missing issues may have had the article I am seeking, but I'll keep looking.

Dan If I didn't have a prior commitment, I'd drive my 77 Z with you to Carlisle, PA. Be sure to take your camera and take pictures of any 77 Z28. Look for swap meet stuff, too. Wayne

Glad to see someone restoring a 77. I see you have a white norwood car. Is it a 4 speed or auto. Please post some pics, thanks, Dan

Unfortunatley its an auto. Posting pics would require a panoramic view of my garage. Right now I have the engine on the stand, trans on the work bench, fenders and hood leaning on the wall, and the majority of my interior out. rest of the body is currently primer gray as the last owner decided to paint it firethorn, and they did a good job with making it look like it rolled out of the factory that way, but in true restoration form im going back to the antique white. I will be changing the engine set up quit a bit as you can see me engine was the 165hp calif emissions version. I dont plan on ever selling this car, I just want everything to look as it did when new, with just a little punch for personal enjoyment. This car has a special place in my heart as it was the first car I ever purchased and it broke my bank when I was 16. Took a lot of hours working at the dairy queen to make the 2000 I paid for it. :P

Oh, to clarify my last post, I will be pulling the original motor and trans and setting them aside, so if ever necessary I can go back to a full restoration. I had a spare 350 block around that im building up to put in there for my personal pleasure, but I definatley want to keep the old engine as is with all the emissions components and everything just to be able to have everything match up as it should be if the time came that I wanted to show it as a fully restored car.

Well I drove my 77 Z28, 1228 miles round trip from Louisville Ky to Carlisle this weekend. What a ride twisting 4000 rpm's with 4:10 gears and a 4 speed for 11 hours each way! The car did great , no problems. I did stop on the pa turnpike to assist a fellow 2nd gen camaro in distress. I also stopped and gave a ride to a first gen camaro owner that was broke down also. I did see Jeff Betz's old yellow 77, as well as a brown 77 that was very slick and still owned by the original owner. My self and Wayne will be driving our 77's up to Ann Arbor Michigan (800 miles round trip) for the Camaro Superfest this coming weekend of the first of July. This is the worlds largest all camaro show. Hope to see some more 77's up there this weekend, Dan

Dan, congrats on making the trip! Did you get a chance to talk with the owner of the brown car?
