Anyone restoring or thinking about restoring a 77 Z28 ? Also, Rich M, did you finish the project with all the data that all of us 77 owners sent you ? Dan |

Ahh Ha... someone has re-awakened the sleeping giant (thread)... |

quote: Dan, I have been extremely dormant on this thread since that whole debacle with one of the moderators on this board last March. I only check in when my e-mail shows that an entry was posted on this thread (like this one I am responding to), and have only posted once myself in the last eight months, to acknowledge the thread's "1st Anniversary" (wonder how many threads on this board have ever HAD a "1st Anniversary"?!!!) I saw your question, and felt compelled to answer you. As a result of the inexcusable exchange of e-mails with one of this boards moderators, I honestly lost interest in the whole subject, especially for wanting to use this forum to share any new info with all of you, as I really didn't want to do anything that would benefit this board any longer. I also got very involved with a job search to change careers, and with the tremendous learning curve involved with that subsequent career change. Rest assured that that data is still in my computer, and people are STILL sending things to me from time to time. When I find a forum that I feel more interested in working with, I'll let many of you know, and that research will continue and eventually be shared. I have given thought to establishing a website just on this subject, but don't have the free time to devote to it just yet. Thanks to all who continue to read this thread, and occasionally post here to revive it from dormancy. Rich |

So let me get this straight, you decided to use this assembly of enthusiast as a forum for collecting information and now you refuse you collective information which came from here, because of a little fiasco with a moderator? That’s bull! |

quote: No offense Red Dawg, but you are talking about something which you honestly know nothing about. If you knew what happened, you'd no doubt understand. I did indeed use this board, first as a forum to find and communicate with other '77 Z28 lovers. We then ALL used this board to share with each other, much to the benefit of the board itself (any time a topic generates that many posts, and that many "views", it is a benefit to this board, is it not?). It then became a place to collect data and information, to be sifted out and shared. That information is still safely held, and will ultimately be shared, though in which form or forum remains to be seen.... after all, what's the point of collecting information if it's not ultimately going to be dispersed? It was the inexcusable poor behavior by a moderator of this board in censoring and/or editing posts (and entire threads!) after having cut this very thread back, and more to the point, his hostile and profane e-mails sent to me personally, and the lack of action by Mad Mike himself, that lead to me losing interest in the entire project (and more importantly, not wanting to benefit their site by continuing the most popular thread they have ever had). If you had seen what he did with his "selective editing", if you had seen those personal e-mails I received from him, you would completely understand that this is NOT "Bull". Mad Mike has seen all of this, and even apologized for some of it, but this person is STILL allowed to be a moderator on this board. I refuse to add anything more to this thread, or this board, that may benefit them in any way in the future. I have no idea if this very post will be allowed to see the light of day, or if it too will be either deleted or "edited" selectively..... But as I said, when I get more free time after the demands of this new job, I will resume interest in my favorite subject as a lifelong car nut, the '77 Z28, and will find another forum in which to continue what we started here, and will then share the valuable data that has been shared by all of us. Meanwhile, any of you may feel free to e-mail me at anytime, at rmcdermott1@surfbest.net I will continue to read posts to this thread whenever my e-mail shows a notice that one has been posted, but will only post myself when specifically addressed, as was the case yesterday with Dan. Thanks to all of you who posted in the past, or simply "viewed" this thread, and special thanks to those who chose to share info on their cars. It was NOT in vain. Rich |

Thanks Rich M for posting a reply. I had no idea what happened. I wonder if Mad Mike would post a response to this situation? |
|
rich m Veteran Member |
Dan, In my mind, no response is necessary from Mad Mike after all this time. What happened, happened. End of story. Thanks. |

Rich, keep me in the email loop and if time permits send me new stuff you find on the '77 1/2 Z28 since I did supply you with some original documentation. ------------------ |

Rich Please keep me informed when you complete the info. I myself wondered why the thread was edited and became dorment! I always liked the looks of the 77 Z/28 Camaro. Bob Beck |

Hey, nice to see 77 Z28 talk again. That's the only reason I get on this forum. I'm a Mustang guy that happens to own two 77 Zs. These cars are really rare. Dan77 and I drove our 77s to the Camaro Superfest in Ann Arbor, Michigan this summer hoping to see some other 77 Z28s. There were lots of nice 78-80 cars, tons of 67-74 Z28s, COPOs galore, ZL-1s, Baldwin-Motion cars, etc, but Dan and I had the ONLY 77 Z28s there. Need further proof of the rarity? Dan and I drove from Louisville, Kentucky to Aberdeen, South Dakota to pick up a 4 speed car and drove it 1100 miles back home last week. Are we crazy, or what? I bought it for a parts car, pulled it out of a cornfield, put on a fuel pump, hoses and belts, started it up and drove it. Somebody commit me to a mental hospital, quick. All for a Chevy?!?! I love it. Hey, I had to fly out to San Francisco CA to buy my rust free white 77 Z28. Dan77 had to go to Canada for his silver car. I've NEVER seen one on the road. Or a car show, either. Lovin' the 77 Z. Wayne [This message has been edited by waynemustang (edited November 28, 2004).] |

Well i will start off... i have a '77 Z28 4-Speed car. It came with A/C and power windows, I found the build sheet when i was cleaning out the car shortly after I got it. I have had the car a little over a year now, drove about 400miles to pick it up. I was just looking for a 2nd gen but this came up so we got it. I paid $1200 for it just added oil and coolent and it ran fine. Had the tranny and rear-end rebuilt and have not had any problems. The interior was is good shape for what i paid, only a small rip in the drivers seat and the consle a little damaged. |

I like the yellow Red Dawg. I would like to see your build sheet. Red Dawg, can you post it on your homepage or email it to me. Dan |

Dan77, are you not doing what Rich was doing? Why dupicate the effort? Here's my '77 4-spd with A/C I ordered new and sold and still have all the paperwork including the build sheet. I tried to track the car down to buy it back but the last licenced year was about '82 and I can't find the name of the last owner on url 411 in Canada. Anyone out there have it? VIN is 1Q87L7N5416xx except for the last 2 numbers. If you have the last 2 numbers I'll show you the build sheet and the Documentaion from GM and maybe we can make a deal. Here are my options: OPTION DESCRIPTION A01 GLASS - TINTED - ALL WINDOWS
