Dan, do you know of any differences between the U.S. cars and Canadian models? |

Rich, I don't think there was really any difference back in '77 between Canadian and US Z/28's. Mine's a Canuck car yet has full MPH speedo with no km/h at all. I don't think Canada phased in the metric aspect until '78 or '79 in the automotive industry, even though the feds up here started the metric thing around 1974 initially. ------------------ |

Does anyone know why GM didn't make the 77 a 10th annivesery model? i mean the Trans-Am got it. |

Red, I honestly don't remember there being a 10th Anniversary Firebird model for 1977. There was a 50th Anniversary of Pontiac model in 1976 though. If you know about a 10th Anniversary Firebird, what did it look like? Thanks. |

no... a Trans-Am the T/A came out in '69 and the 10th was in '79... now why don't we have a annivesery model |

Rich M . You asked about difference between Canadian and US car. GM of Canada keeps good records of all its cars sold in Canada. The paperwork they sent me tells of the cars destination, all options and the number exported. There were 1281 Z28's exported to Canada for 1977. The only real difference for Canada car that I know of is the RPO Z49 Canadian equipment package. I am not sure what that package consists of. Dan |

Dan, thanks for the info. I wonder if that production figure is included in the total production figure of 14,349? I guess a call to Chevrolet Customer Assistance is in order to answer that, and to help determine just what equipment was included in the Z49 Canadian equipment package. Thanks for the info, Dan! By the way, does anyone in Canada have a copy of the 1977 Camaro dealer brochure, and if so, does it differ from the U.S. version, I wonder? Did the same full page ad run in Canadian magazines as well ? |

There were a toal of 14,349 1977 Z28's built. Total Camaros for 1977 = 218,854 214,776 for Domestic 4,078 for Export 31,390 with 6 cyl ------------------ |

Has anybody had a prob. with your '77 Z trying to oversteer on hard curves/corners? I only noticed when I replaced the rear springs. The anti-sway bars are (I think) stock. It feels like the rear lifts up and tries to lean to the outside. It does not try to swap ends or fight me with steering. I'm just a little spooked it might get loose on a mountain road and have me doing a "Thelma and Luise"

Sharon, Your problem is your front stabilizer end links....loose/worn/wasted. It does real well in the corners...but I don't get crazy with it..too much $$$ in the car >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Ken |

The whole front was upgraded to polys when I put the new engine in. I was not able to match the rear bushings. The front seems stable and does not fight me at all. Just a bit spooky feeling the rear lift and lean outboard. |

Sharon. I would suspect that when your rear springs were replaced , they may have a higher spring rate than the factory springs did, as most aftermarket springs do. If this is the case , then the higher rate would cause oversteer, or the rear to come around on a corner. You could put higher rate rear springs in the front , or install a larger diameter front sway bar with urethane bushings, which would help put the car more neutral. For a cheap fix, I would try a 70-81 trans-am sway bar off ebay or this site. You can purchase the urethane bushings for the sway bar from summit or jegs for about 20 dollars. Dan |

You are prob. right about the new rears being stouter than factory. I was only able to match the new fr coil springs to fit a 1980 Z28. The car sits a tad higher than it did with the old, worn out springs and I thought that was causing the lift I feel around corners. It has been months since they were replaced and the car should have "settled" by now. |
