I sold my 17" 2000 Vette rims yesterday and have spent the better part of two days looking for a set of 17" rims for my car.

I am having trouble finding any that are 17x9.5 with a 5.5"BS and some 17x8 with a 5"BS

Everyone seems to have TT2 style rims so I am looking for something a little different. I kind of like the ARE Hopsters (appears to be a custom offset) and the Centerline Meteors.

I know the Meteors come in the offset I am looking for but I'm not sure how they would look an a 70 Camaro. I thought they would look great but now I am having 2nd thoughts.

Where are you guys with 17" wheels finding them??

If you care to see

Sorry, but this is off topic. Did you put your autometers into the stock gauge bezel, or is that an aftermarket one?

Kinda a long story..I'll shorten it up.
Friend wanted some parts, had no money, I didn't really want to at the time but I took the wheels and a set of gears in trade. I figured I would sell the rims, but then they grew on me so I decided to keep them. He now decided he wanted the rims back and he has money so away they go, But I sold the rims that were on the car so now it's hanging out in the garage till I can find some I like.

I liked the rims on the car but I was not happy with the rim width and tire size. They were 255/40/17 all the way around on a 17x8.5 rim.
They were ok for the front but I wanted a little wider in the rear. That's why I am looking for a 17x9.5 with a 285/40/17

Blue,

I've been looking for months at 17's for my Camaro. Centerline is the only manufacturer that makes the offset you are looking for. As for myself, I can't seem to get away from the TT2's especially the set up N-Memory has. So, I ended up special ordering them last week. I know everyone has them but it’s what I like. Intro and Bonspeed has some cool wheels but getting further out of my price range, and they are all special order. Centerline makes a high quality wheel especially for the price. Check out their photo gallery to see what they look like on other cars.

Thanks martZ

I always thought I was pretty good at finding stuff online, so I'm glad I'm not the only one with the same findings..I know Intro, Boyd, Foose etc make some beautiful rims but they are out of my league..

Don't get me wrong, I love the TT2's and have said "screw it that's what I'm getting" a couple times now, but I always try to do something a bit different. That's why I might go with my first choise, the Meteors.
They are a good looking rim, I'm just afraid they might not be good looking stuck under a 70 Camaro

If I need to spend the money I only want to do it once!!

Go with the Meteors! I LOVE THOSE WHEELS! That is what I am going to go with. I think that they will look killer on our cars, and really look better on the 70-73's vs. 78-81's. But I am going with them anyways...

The centerline rotary forged wheels are very light. I have a set of 17s (Sahara style I think) on an s-10 blazer and they are much lighter than my boyd "timeless 5" on my camaro.

Go with the Meteors. They look very agressive and I think that looks great on those cars. I think you'll like them once they are on the car.

Blue, I am also in the same boat as you. Want to get a set of wheels but don't really want to go with the TT2's. I think they look great but I have never personally been an American racing fan, not that it won't change in the near future :-). The bind I am in is I am going to be changing the front brakes to Baer "track" system. Talking to the sales guy he said that I should know what kind of wheel I want so we can make sure it will work with the package. So this has upset the project a little and now I am in the hunt for wheels with all the right backspacing.

I also looked at this Foose wheel and if it can be ordered in the correct configuration it would probably be one of the top choices.
http://www.foosedesignwheels.com/product_details.php?style=thrustar
Part number - F11079561P0A
Size - 17x9.5
Bolt Pattern - 5x120.7 ( I think this is ours)
Back spacing - 06 (not sure what this calculates out to)

Cragar SS (I like the 230 series)
http://customwheelsmarket.com/c230792.html

I have noticed that searching the web most wheels are for FWD or the ones for RWD are for SUV's and such. I may have to go in to a wheel place in person and see if they have better information for me to work from.

Wheel size that would be the best (taken from N-Memory) although I would go with the 9" rear if a 9.5 wasn't available.
Rear - AR Torq Thrust II 17x9.5 w/5.5"bs and BFG G-Force KDW 285/40/17
Front - AR Torq Thrust II 17x8 w/5"bs and BFG G-Force KDW 245/45/17

Let's see some pics when you are done.
