Guys,

We are working on the transition of this message board to VBulletin 3.50.

VBulletin 3.50 is widely used by thousands of other message boards all over the world.

If you participate at 1Gen Camaro board, the Chevelle board, or most of the LS1 / 4Gen boards then you have already used VBulletin.

Unfortunately, the off the shelf conversion utilities will not work on our existing board, so those utilties need to be modified. That work is ongoing right now.

Please take a moment now to check your user profile information on this board. If you don't know your password because you rely on cookies to do it for you then please write it down somewhere. cAsE SEnSiTiViTY matters. Same with your e-mail address. Be sure it is up to date. We will be using these data to set up the new board, so..... "garbage in / garbage out" is certainly applicable in this case.

Our objective is make as smooth of a transition as possible. Recent existing threads will be moved over along with the user profile data.

VBulletin has lots of optional "bells and whistles". Initially, these will be kept to a minumum.

We will keep you posted. In the meantime, please make sure your e-mail address is good and that you know your password.

Thanks.

Figure one to two weeks after the data conversion utility is operational.

The unknown is how long it will take to modify the data conversion utility to work with our existing database and software (UBB Classic 5.47e).

If we were willing to start from scratch we could do it today, but....starting from scratch is simply a bad idea, imo.

The new software will also allow us to:

Replace the current photo gallery(s) with an integrated and easier to use gallery.

Replace the current event calendar with an integrated calendar that everyone can use.

Replace the current classified section with an integrated and more robust classified area.

Plus you will have the ability to tailor what you see and how you see it.

It should be faster.

Those are just some of the key benefits. I tried hacking all that functionality into the ubb in the past but it wasn't feasible. Altering how this version of the software works is what is making the transition difficult.

We're working on making the transition as seemless as possible.

KOOL... I like STUFF.
You guys really have your work cut out. Our company recently started the NCR software upgrades for our
customers which has been a total freaking nightmare. 50% of the customers also made the recommended
hardware ($$$ Server Upgrades $$$) Which made theirs go much smother. The other 50% has been nothing
but a nightmare. They should have made it mandatory!!! The latest patch fixed 3 problems BUT Created 5
different ones.
I hope all goes well…

Does that mean not all of our history will be converted? (as in threads/posts)

Threads, posts and user profiles & history will be migrated and retained. It is essential.

We're also going to have the place "look just like it used to". With some obvious improvements sprinkled in here & there.

usually means a choice of "skins" or possible the choice to only see new posts. Could possibly be the little "turn down" arrows for the different forum sections. This is all speculation of course
