what's a good rule of thumb re; asking price for parts//////I'm rather new at this and don't want look like I'm trying to rip anyone off. I offered 76 SB exhaust mans, orig equip $200/pair, smog holes/plugs, great shape. New,they are $200 each. Sent pics I was told they could be had for $40.
Am I that far off??????

"Ask" whatever you want- what you get may not be reflective of your desire, however.

Go look over ebay auctions to see what things typicall "go for" (not the starting price, but something near the end of an auction when bids have been placed)- it's not exact, and sometimes people get skeeee-rewed on ebay- but it'll at least give you a "ballpark" for things.
