No, I guess I am lost. I feel like maybe its time to hang out elsewhere.

I have tried to fit in, but don't think that has worked very well.

I have asked for help with a problem on the camaro and received no help at all until I changed the title virtually begging for help, then only received two posts, the nothing more. I posted the same request, verbatim, on another site and I received several tips, advice, and continued advice giving me not only something to work with, but also making me feel like I was part of the group, which is a large part of making a site like either of these, great sites. And I am not saying this is not a great site, only to say there are quite a few members here who are not. I may sneak in, from time to time, to read some of the posts, but for now, its bye. Too bad a few bad eggs can ruin something as good as you have here.

A while back I made an error in judgement buying on the swap meet, then posted an advisory message, not naming names or particulars, only to say to others not to make the same stupid mistake as me (not verifying info before buying), only to receive several very crude and crass posts back from others, going so far as to say I must be one of those so and so's and I wouldn't sell anything to such a so and so. This, all because I admitted it was mostly my mistake (after all the guy did give me misinformation) and that I didn't want others to do the same? And most of the posters were names I had never had any chats with before!

I have tried asking questions pertaining to current posts, directly to people, and they re-post but ignore my question. Over and over. Kind of like a group of guys standing talking, and you are there, ask a question of someone, only to have them just continue on as if you weren't there. Would that make you feel a part of anything?

Sorry for the semi-rant, just getting a few things off my chest. I guess basically I give up trying to be a part of this for now.

Whatever you do is your business. However, is it not possible you are being a bit unfair?

I noticed you had a couple of questions in Engine Topics (one in May, another in January). There were only a couple of replies on each, but the replies seemed to pretty much cover what you asked. For example- one question was about somebody running oil cooler lines backwards- only two answers, but the basic idea and the only way to be 100% sure of what did/did not happened would be to pull the oil pan and look around- more replies in that post would have been more mental masturbation than useful.

I don't know about your Swap Meet issue, or what post or posts you are referring to specifically- but one thing you may note is that "easy" questions always get a ton of responses from anyone/everyone, more difficult questions are generally only answerable by a few people here/there- and on top of all this sometimes questions are not answered by people because it's been answered a 100 times before and they're tired of typing the same response (thus why the board has a "search" feature). My point is, this is nothing personal with you I'm sure. However, if you feel that people are not helpful to your issues, it's your choice to hang around or not and hopefully get what you're looking for somewhere else.

In any event, good luck in the future...

Don't know where else you can go and actually get people who are second gen enthusiasts. Nice thing about this board is the focus on our cars, and not a bunch of wise asses flaming anyone who posts. Won't slam other boards but some of them are pathetic.

Everyone needs a break from the "same old same old" sometimes for whatever reasons. This is a great board and I truely get along with & respect most the people on it, but its not my wife & I cheat on it regularly! There are just some replies to questions that are just trying to instigate.

I know I'm walking into your thread late, but I'm sorry we've let you slip by like this.

The guys have already shared some possible reasons why your threads might not get the responses you expected. I have something for you to consider about not feeling like "part of the group"...

Maybe you should try completing your profile? I know I feel a lot more comfortable interacting with people online if I can see something about them - where you're from, what's your job, what type of car you have. Right now your profile is blank, someone with a completely blank profile who has been here so long leads me to believe they prefer to remain somewhat anonymous and unattached to the members. Maybe other people feel the same way?

I know a lot of people have concerns about sharing personal information, but I think it's totally possible to keep your actual identity anonymous and still let us know more about you. ie. - don't use your real name, or actual town - use one close to where you live. Use an email address you use for online only, etc.

Just something to think about. And I hope you stick around. We need the good folks to stay!

Don't know you,but I can say that YOU have been around since May 2003 with 505 posts. If it is true about what your saying, and some members want to act that way, screw them. Ignore them in your own way. The idea is for everyone to come here and learn as much as possible. Members to chat and hangout with each other regardless of what darn car they own. Things are going to happen and people are going to harbor feelings to one another. 505 posts isn't something to ignore. I've seen you pop up a lot on a lot of things. There are a few of the members that I particularly don't like because of there "OPINIONS" on certain things. But that's not going to keep me from asking some individual personally on some subjects. I frequent some other clubs also and find them all interesting. Good luck onthe other board. ADIOS.

I don't know you personally,but,

Its sad and unfortunate that you feel you have to leave.

Sometimes though, it helps to take a step back, take a deep breath, and realize this for what it is.
Its only a message board.
Its not the end of the world.
As in life its made up of all kinds of people.

Also I've found that the majority of people (myself included) are "sometimes" more "abrupt" and "opinionated" when typing on a computer compared to real life conversation.
This is a documented fact, and keep that in mind when reading posts or emails from others.

Some you will get along with, others you won't.

Just for the shared knowledge, and mutual interests alone its worth stickin around.
