Hello Everyone,

If you haven't already found out, there is a new virus, which is spread, via e-mails.

The virus is known as the W32.Sasser.c.com virus. My anti-virus program (Norton) has aleady detected it twice and fortunately has removed the virus from my computer.

Please use your utilities and scan for the virus and remove it immediately if it is detected.

Here is a link to Symantec's website on the virus.

Just FYI...this worm is NOT spread by email. YOU DONT HAVE TO OPEN A MAIL MESSAGE TO GET IT!!! It randomly looks for vulnerable IP addresses and spreads itself without the use of email.

The worm spreads with the file name: avserve.exe . Unlike many recent worms, this virus does not spread via email. No user intervention is required to become infected or propagate the virus further. The worm works by instructing vulnerable systems to download and execute the viral code.

I stand corrected. I re-read the information on the Symantec website and Carted2 is correct.

Kunihiro is a still a little right though. There is an email going around that purports to fix the sasser virus, and does, but it also installs another virus. Nice huh?
