Have you guys noticed that the time stamp on the topics is something like a full 10 minutes ahead of the offical US time?

Every now and again I update my clock to the current time with the official US time found at www.time.gov. I've noticed that I can post a topic and it's time stamp is at least 8 - 10 minutes ahead of my computer's clock.

Like I said in the subject... I know that it is really nit-picky.. but sometimes it's hard to keep up with somethings when the time-stamp is that far ahead of 'normal' time (whatever that is).

I've always found it a tad annoying that the time is Eastern Standard time, so they are always an hour off what my computer says. Oh well....

I don't believe "we" have control over the actual time, just the time zone we want to be "in". The company that physically houses the server (and uses it for 10 billion other websites) has this set. Mind you, I may stand to be corrected on this...

You should be correct Eric. Generally, the hosting company controls the time on the server, and there isn't anything that can be done to fix it.

That hasn't bothered me being in the Eastern Zone myself... but the few minutes off is sometimes annoying.

He did.. so does that mean that the server is moving faster or slower than my computer?

I find it makes it hard to tell when new posts are made since I look at my clock and see 12 posts after the current time

This is the song the never ends....
It goes on and on my friends...
Some people started singing it not knowing what it was...
And they'll just keep on singing it forever just because...

I remember that when I was visiting Perth. I would call my wife and it was like calling back in time... "Hi honey.. it's tomorrow here!!"
