While I agree that the Auctions forum was a good idea. It's apparent with some of the auctions being inserted it's being totally abused.

Yup. I knew that would happen, which is why I didn't want it. But everyone else thinks it's a swell idea, so we'll run with it.

I don't like it Mike. I know that I didn't speak up earlier, but I didn't think that it would be like this. The forum is just a filter for an ebay search of "70-73 Camaro". If I feel like looking for some parts, then I'll just go to ebay and do it there. Just my .02

At the risk of sounding like a complete arse. . . . if you don't like what's being put in the forum, stay out of it.

The general consensus was that every one knew the auction forum would get abused, but they'd rather have it all in one place that it could be ignored than in with the other stuff they really wanted to look through.

Also, without trying to be a complete arse, I've already stated that I'll go to ebay and look there.

i agree with lammy on this one... i was thinking to myself man this forum is annoying, but then i thought if i didn't like it i would stay out of it. But it could be improved by the person who is posting the thread puts the name of the part not the auctiion title.

It is a total waste of space!!!!
If there is going to be a forun of this type it should be for members of this club that have listings on ebay.A pointer so to speak.
It should ne be EVERY THING someone sees in ebay.
I have went and took a look at the site twice both times, turned me off. I will not be going back there again. Besides I would bet the farm that almost everyone logs on to ebay after they close off 2nd gen. club or they went there first before they loged into 2nd gen. club. I know i do, cant help my self. Just got to see if there is anything for my z I can't live without.

Folks,

A while back there was a problem with the B.S. Topic and the Camaro Questions Topic getting filled up with e-bay pointers...some for rare, hard to find parts, or good project cars, but most were finger pointing at bad deals, fake cars, and people who couldn't spell Camaro. We managed to squash it and slow it down after a while, but lately the trend has been making a comeback, despite repeated requests to keep them to a dull roar (you know, good project cars or rare parts). We MOST DEFINITELY didn't want them in the Swap Meet to compete with the members who were trying to give someone a good deal on some leftover NOS stuff from their garage, so they were absolutely forbidden there.
The bottom line is this: rather than expending wasted energy asking for them not to be posted, or locking and deleting them, we gave them a place to be put. Those folks that troll e-bay regularly and run across good deals can put them in the auction topic for others to find, and they're out of the way of the other topics. If you don't want to look at a bunch of auctions, be happy...they could be in your favorite topic instead. If you're looking for something in particular, go check it out...it will save you some time from flipping through endless pages of 1st gen parts, Camaro t-shirts, and one-off $15000 butt ugly cars. If you're just curious, go check it out...you never know when that rare part you didn't even know you were looking for pops up in there. If its presence here offends you for some reason, I'm not really sure what to say, except to remember what it was like to have all of those posts in the B.S. Topic that you never complained about...

I was just going to make a post about this, but go figure one already exists.

I also was for the auction forum assuming members would post their own ads. That way both parties had benefits of feedback ratings. I never expected members to dedicate their afternoon cut-n-pasting.

If it could be restricted like the eBay ads are now from the swap meet then it could work. But if those two don't stop you should drop it, your wasting your bandwidth on that crap.

I go to a Vega site that puts a header(or whatever you want to call it) at the top of their for sale section(swap meet)that covers all the things on Ebay related to thoose cars. That way it doesn't take up much space and if you're looking for something you can just click on it and sees whats for sale.

You could do it so that there's one for the different years for body parts eg.79-81 and so on and you could make one for drivetrain parts as well.Just a thought to help keep it cleaned up.
