mike, is it possible to put another catagory on our profiles called image of car link? it would just be a link to a picture of our car, one that we could just click on. it seems like whenever i click on someones profile the picture of their car never shows up. i have the same problem, everytime i get a picture host that will allow the pic to show up on your site it only lasts for a short "free" period. i understand that there is a link to a persons website but who wants to navigate through someones website just to see one picture of their car? would it be too hard to do? all it would have to be is another link like the homepage catagory only dedicated to one car pic by the user, and simple to use like one click and your there.

oh, im not saying get rid of the "image of car" just add another catagory above or below it

burbon,
that question has been raised before and the problem is the storage of the photos. 10K users X whatever allowable picture size means tons more SCSI drives to buy for the server! There were some other reasons that Mike had previously stated. I remember this comimg up before. If you would like to host a picture of your car, I will do it for you if you want to email it to me.

i think you misunderstood me earlysecond. im not saying for this site to host pictures. what i said would be nice is another catagory under out profiles that would allow us to type in a link, just a link, to a picture of our car that we might have stored somewhere else on the internet.

heres what i mean: your reading a post where someone is describing their car. to get a better idea what kind of car they have you click on their profile. you see that their car pic is not working BUT in this new catagory you see a link for their car pic that the user has included. you click on it and, lets say it takes you to a pic of their car on THEIR website. so, although their website wont allow downloads to this website the link still works and presto within half a second you see their car (without navigating through their website). doesnt that sound like a good idea?

Like the Geocites deal I'm thinking. I just right click on the icon, select properties, highlight the address and copy/paste into my address bar to see the picture. Same result of your suggestion but done by taking the long way around.

try the using the camera icon at the top of posts instead of going to their profile. No matter what though a dead link is a dead link. It's up to each member to make sure their image links work.

If you need a good cheap reliable hosting source. . . you could always buy the ones offered to members of this site.
