hye everybody !

i'm new in this forum, i'm Christophe, i live in France, i'm only 20 and i love american cars ! and congratulation for this site !

i found a camaro (i love them so much) about 3 months ago in france, it's a berlinetta 1979, equipped with a V8 350.
it's not easy to found it where i am, i don't exactly how many they are in my country, but i know there's only about 300 3rd generation of camaro. i travelled nearly 2000km
just to see her (my camaro was 950km from house). and i travelled again 950km + 950km with my camaro to go back home !

there aren't many because fuel is expensive (today, cheaper unleaded fuel = 1€ = 1$), and few years ago, this type of cars were taxed every year (about 1000€ for 33cv ) but today this taxe doesn't exist any more. and another reason, camaro 2nd generation wasn't officially sold in france (like severals american cars
)

i've another car for everyday, and the camaro is for hobby (everyday in summer, sometimes the weekend in winter).

my camaro is an original car, except carburation and wheels and i'm very happy about her.

i've some videos, if someone is interested...

few accelerations : here

starting : here

a night video (cause i love my camaro when she's enlightened !!):
here

a Z28 1978 which begins to a friend...(in france too) 3 years of restauration : Z28 show here

a bigger video few days after bought it(1mn47s) which is divised in 3 parts, you must download AVI joiner to join the 3 parts of video :
1st part (3Mo)
2nd part (3Mo)
3rd part (160Ko)
you just extract the files with winzip, and join them, then you see !

tell me what do u think about her ! with simply words, or if someone speaks french it's great !

thanks !

i've many questions : is it easy to find a camaro 2nd generation in US ? are they a lot or not many ? do you see many people who drive camaro 2nd gen alldays ? or is camaro just for hobby (in your country) ?

and you, is your camaro your only car, or have you another for alldays ?

There's still quite a few here in Canada and in the States. I see a couple everyday, some people drive their Camaros every day and some only drive them in summer. More and more and gens are being kept as hobby cars every year. The ones that are too rusty to fix get stripped of the good parts and the rest is crushed or left in a field or driveway somwhere to slowly disintegrate.
The ones that are in good shape or even rough cars if their 'special' SS, Z28 get painstakinly rebuilt with as much power as we can afford.

ok great !!!! it's interesting for me to know how is considered 2nd gen camaro in america, if someone would buy it just to have a used car for everyday, or of really camaro is considered like a great car by everyone who have it...

in france, of course it's an exceptionnal car, it's better to drive and hear it than drive and hear a peugeot !! in france, most people have renault, peugeot or citroën car, with little 4 cyl diesel !!! they have less pleasure to drive, french people only want their car not to consume ! that's all !

long life to camaro
