As of the past few months I have noticed several posts that have nothing to do with
Camaro's or at times even a Chevrolet product. In the swap meet area there are items for sale that range from Computers to Mopars & Mustangs...what next craft related items? The swap meet area has become cluttered with all kinds of junk that make it look more like a yard sale than a Camaro Site. If nobody has the time to monitor and delete this crap, I will be glad to if given the authority to do so. There is even a 1967 Camaro in the for sale area that states
"Anthing other than a 2nd Gen. will be deleted" and there it sits. If the site continues to let this stuff slide it will get further out of hand as time goes on.

Greg,

I will try to answer this for you the best I can. First I can understand how you feel about the Swap Meet area. But honestly we have to use a little discretion from time to time as to what can be sold or swapped or wanted in there.

First of all you need a computer to get to this place. If someone needs to sell one and it is not junk and just wants to pass on a good deal to another BB member, I say why not?

Camaro's are Camaro's and it does not matter what the year model is. If someone wants to make someone a good deal on a First Gen or a Third or Fourth, why not? Lots of people on this BB like all the other cars as well, including myself. So why not pass on a good deal do another BB member? Only makes sense to me. If I have something to sell I put it in there first. And I myself have sold car parts and a laptop in the Swap Meet area.

Some things we just have to say no too but as long as someone is not just peddling a bunch of garbage in there like at a garage sale, I say just let it slide someone on the site might be looking exactly for that.

The one thing about the swap meet is that when some business comes along wanting to sell parts in there and try to pass themselves off as a person just trying to help others out, then we have to say no and they need to pay to sell your stuff. We know what goes on in there, trust me on that. If we don't someone emails us almost immediately if not sooner.

I appreciate your concern for what is sold in there but lets all use a little discretion and someone might just find the deal of a lifetime in there. Like me for example if someone put a 1970 Plymouth Superbird with a 426 Hemi in there for $3000 (not going to be likely though) I would be all over that in a nanosecond.....

I think what bugged him is we let that "I need to sell my ford" post slide by too.

Seriously, we do need to use discretion on what's passing through there, and we do try and keep it sane. (un)fortunantly it's highly visible and highly effective, so it's understandable why people try and sell <whatever> in there.

I agree with both sides here. Some of the stuff is wierd but we also are living in tough times. Like Bob said, you may find some deal that is too good to pass up, Camaro or not. And also with the economy the way it is you may be helping someone in need by purcahsing from them. We are lucky to be a part of a honest and free site. Sure there will be some abusers here and there but they do watch and keep an eye on it.

Just the other day there was a 'Camaro' post... but there was a request for purchasing the VIN plate... Thats a no-no and was glad it got axed. Not to say that stuff doesn't go on but illegal activity can't be allowed to run through the board either or we will all lose.

Just watch the titles.. and check often. You should be able to tell by the titles if you want to look inside.

Good luck and happy boarding....

As much as I love camaros, I'm on my fifth, life would be boring if that's all there was to talk about. It's all the other interests of the people on this BB that make it so interesting. Yeah, we let a ford slide, er uh crawl by, but why not. I pick on my ford friends just as much as they pick on me. What scares me is when people take it to the extreme. Camaros only, nothing more. the chevy vs. ford debate has gotten out of hand in my opinion. It should be added to our constitution. We will not discriminate based on sexual orientation, gender, race, religion, creed, and vehicle brands............Just trying to lighten it up a bit.; But serious, I think it's getting out of hand lately.

Ive found that other forums found ways to fix this type of problem.

Instead of having one general classified forum, break it down to 2 or 3. Have one be for 2nd Gen. Camaros and Parts only. Have another forum for all other cars and parts. Lastly, make a third forum for misc. items.

It makes sifting through all the posts alot easier, and makes things a little more orgainized.

New to the club, just trying to help!

Thanks for the response. I was not trying to offend anyone on the board. Things were getting a bit out of hand with some posts, and I see than one which was clearly a
commercial vendor was dealt with. The moderators have been vigilant with the ebay posters, and need to be the same with some others. There is a clear difference between those of us who are here because of our dedication to these cars, and those who just register to pedal their items.
