I just picked up a 79 suposed to be a z28, but it has a sunroof? i didnt think that z28s came with sun roofs? maybe im wrong but im starting to think that someone cloned it to be a z28. not sure, let me know if sunroofs were even available on z28s.

Sunroofs were never an option for 2nd generation F-body's. That doesn't mean some poor misguided soul didn't desecrate the sheet metal with a aftermarket sunroof.

i don't like sunroofs either but a well done electric sliding roof would look alright as long as it slid into the roof and not upward or outward

Believe it or not, but I saw this 78 Camaro sitting in the Kroger parking lot the other day where the guy had, from what I could tell, taken a sunroof out of a Maxima (the kind that run long ways), and cut/welded/seamed it into his roof. I gotta tell ya, I was impressed with his engineering.

Still, unless its factory T-tops, I hate seeing the 2nd generation roofline get altered.

Not that I would do it on mine, but has anyone seen or done a late 2nd gen t-top conversion onto a 70-73 model? I wonder how it would look...like a factory option or cheesy?

My 1979 Z28 has one. I know it's not stock but.........I don't have a real problem with it. I know of a couple others - one even sold locally (flemingsultimategarage.com) for a hefty price.
It's not as nice as t-tops when removed, but it seals out water much better (if I get caught in the rain). I called the company whose name appears on my latch (ASC in San Diego) - they are one of the major aftermarket installers at least in that area. Some parts are still available since it's a standard size install.
Enjoy it or weld a patch on.

There was a dark blue 79 on ebay a while ago with a electric sunroof in it and it was awesome. I did'nt even know it had one untill the interior pictures were shown.
