Getting ready to replace windshield wiper motor on my 70 and want to make sure I have the right one.

Is this a "recessed" or "non-recessed" version?

    thanks.

Just to let you know if you didn't already, you can have the recessed look without the recessed system by moving the wiper arms down a spline or two when attaching them to the splines posts. Yeah, they won't go up as far in a rain storm but most of these cars don't get driven in the rain much anyway, and even if the do they still wipe most of the windshield.

When you close the hood, you can't see the wiper blades.

Thanks for all the help. Based on COPO's picture alone, looks like I have the non-recessed system. My motor looks nothing like his...

I'm not trying to convert to a hidden one, just upgrading to a new motor and wanted to make sure of what I had now.

    mucho gracias!

And hey, with 711 HP, just press down the go fast pedal, and that will get the water off the windshield!! HAA HA !!

As stated above you have a non hidden wiper motor. The hidden wiper motor has a round motor like in COPO photo. It is an easy conversion if you want to change to hidden wiper.

I probably won't intentionally drive in the rain anyway - just need to fill up that big hole on the firewall!

Have not cranked it up yet. This is my 1st LS build, yep 711hp is a handful. There is a guy on LS1.com who has a very similar build to mine in a 70 Chevelle. On his maiden voyage he said he floored it in 4th gear doing 55 and smoked the tires. Don't want to be doing that in the rain...
