    Hi , I took a look at mine 02b 1971 Norwood built Z and I have 5 rims.

SIZE / MARK @ HOLE / DATE CODE

    13/16" oval / GM G / K10 12 8 AU Dec 8th ( 3 rims )
    13/16" oval / GM G / K10 12 10 AU Dec 10th ( 2 rims )

Not really sure what the G means by the hole but early build so makes sense it would have late '70 code.

    Mark,

That's interesting. It's stamped in reverse from all the wheel's I have.

Where's the valve stem hole in relation to the stamping? All of the wheel's in my list have the letter's/number's stamped with some on either side of the hole. There's no hole in your pic, and it should be between the 21 and the 4.......

Thanks for your interesting input.............WE have no doubt that LATE June-July 70's and ALL 71 Z's had the 13/16th wheel.....(Go ahead send your factual original wheel KNOWN to be on Original car 5/8? examples) ...........

You must honestly think that your wheel examples were born on your date example car...........

We are mainly looking for more May-July 70 examples to determine a Norwood AND Los Angeles changeover.........

    70 Z-28 wheels

I have 4 original wheels and one from a buddy who got mine from a freak accident he had. Swapped me because he needed a spare and I never got mine back.

Anybody ever buy or still own a 1970 Z-28 that was red and black from Florida? If so, did you have one 'odd' wheel? You'll know this detail if you have it.

Also, would my wheel numbers help in this old post?

One thing not being discussed is the date of the change on the spokes . . . some being rounded where they meet the outer rim and the other being flat faced.
I believe the change occurred when the outer lip and trim ring fit changed around 77 or 78 but I don't know for sure.

This would be an easy judging distinction for identifying wrong wheels (at least wrong or correct year wheels.).

I also had some june 6th or so K10 wheels with the small 5/8th holes. Sold them to a fellow member about 7 years ago.

My Norwood Z-28 was assembled in February of 1970.

    <hole> is 5/8 inch oval

    K-1-0 2 <hole> 17 A U (Feb 17, 1970)
    K-1-0 2 <hole> 16 A U (Feb 16, 1970)
    K-1-0 2 <hole> 16 A U (Feb 16, 1970)
    K-1-0 2 <hole> 4 (Nothing else) (Feb 04, 1970)

    Spare:
    K-1-0 4 <hole> 13 A U (Apr 13, 1970) (This is not my original spare.)

I would think anyone with a 70 Z-28 who has 4 wheels dated like my current spare and one from Feb 1970 COULD POSSIBLY have my other wheel! :bowtie:

Regarding the shape of the spokes on 70+ Z-28 wheels.

I had heard or read that as the stamping dyes wore, this could/would cause a
difference in the specifc shape of the metal spoke.

I have no personel experience and cant prove any of my above
explanation. I have seen significant irregularites in Kelsey Hayes Z-28 wheels
    from close mfg dates.
