I think I'm going to try these.
found this tonight http://www.dragzine.com/tech-storie...o-the-front-mickey-thompsons-front-tire-tech/
Good read !!!
Interesting read, but I'll stick to what makes me feel comfortable going through the traps at 170+.
Very interesting! Thanks for sharing!
Exactly, what we do is dangerous enough, with out having something eating at us in the back of our mind.
I say this all the time, do what's comfortable, and who cares what anyone else thinks.
People with slow cars don't understand just how quick stuff happens to us at 150-175-200 MPH plus!!!
If someone thinks it's squirrelly, then it's squirrelly, and you make a change so you feel comfortable!!!!
I've clicked runs at 170 plus and caught crap because the car never moved.
Guess what, I thought she moved, so I clicked it.
I have a ticket some where of a 7 second run at 90 ish MPH.
It got loose when I hit the crosswind past the stands and I threw the chutes, the launch was hard enough to still run a 7.
I did ask around, and it's the same as last time.
Some guys say it's dangerous, some say it's a wife's tail???
The 15x10 with 5.5 backspacing fit on my camaro with mickey thompson 28x12's which if i rememeber is like a 305 something in metric. BARELY fits though. Had to roll the fenders and bash the seat belt hump a bit and watch the bumps on the road. As for the front, I got 15x4's with 1.625 backspace. I don't like that super tucked in look on the front. With that spacing the outer sidewall sits more so where a normal sized wheel sits. With a 295 or 275 you'd have plenty of clearance.
Oh and the front tire I run is a mickey thompson S/R, jeff lutz runs them on drag week, really nice tire, bit pricey though.
I just heard that in Australia it is illegal to run radial fronts with bias rears on faster cars???
Here's a Mickey Thompson Bias ply front runner
