Here are three of pics of the Golden Brown 1972 Camaro Sport Coupe my Dad ordered brand new in the fall of 1971. It had the 307 V-8, automatic, rally wheels, air conditioning, Covert interior and sport mirror. I've only seen one other 1972 Camaro in this color and that was more than 25 years ago. The first picture was taken at the 1972 Can-Am race at Road America racetrack Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin and the second was the day he traded it in on a new 1981 Grand Prix and the third on a camping trip sometime in the early 70's. This was the car they brought me home from the hospital in when I was born in 1976, probably why I love Camaros so much!!! He should have held on to it.
Someone just posted on this thread. As I scanned up and saw my post, I had to make a comment. I mentioned above that our 924 was parked between our friend's 911's. The guy who owned the silver car passed away 10 years or so ago. He is the guy standing with the white shirt and tan hat. The guy in the straw hat sitting on the lawn chair owned the green 911. My wife is sitting in front of him in the red top. He passed away two weeks ago at 80 years old. They were best friends to each other and great friends of both my wife and I. Kind of sad to see the pic today but happy to remember the many good times we had together.
Since I posted the photos above, I have scanned some more photos. These photos below were taken at the Pabst 500 at Road America in 1981.
Big time racing wasn't quite as big time back then as it is today.
Man I love looking at all the old pics
Me and my 1973 Z/28, circa 1981, I was 21 at the time.
I blacked out all the trim and bumbers, and made front turn signal covers that were black and made the opening a rectangle shape.
At the time I worked for Iveco Trucks of North America, prepping new trucks from Europe for the US market. That is where these indicator lights came from on my custom dash.
I'm still searching for pics of my 1980 Berlinetta - only found this one so far - had to take my dad's skeleton out to drag Douglas one night as a joke. I can't recall if it was a 3 or 4 speed manual but with the mighty 305 it was, well, a little lacking in performance. Sure had great times with that car. Got this car in about 1985 and sold it in 1987.
lol thats awesome. Bet you got some funny looks.
Here you go:
74 Z28 Type LT that my girl friend bought in the early 80's ...
30k miles and brand new Goodyear Wingfoots on it ... her younger brother is in it, awesome car and woman (I think she was 19 at the time of the picture) ...
Here's a pic of the 1970 Z28 I had back in 1974. Wish I still had her.
