Another question on my 71 z28, This one I am pretty sure I know but just want to make sure. It seems the valve covers where placed back opposite from original. The oil fill is toward the radiator cap, and the emblem is toward the brake booster. Where there ever reasons for this? or did someone just put them on wrong. Thanks

I'd agree. Things are backwards there. How does the PCV vent pipe fit to the air cleaner with the valve cover backwards?

The other grommets for PVC and air cleaner end up in the same place, pictures I see show the oil fill near the brake booster

Yes, the factory put the oil fill on the driver's side. Maybe somebody wanted it different and changed it.

Easier to add oil I would guess. Seen this many times.

For me, it would make it more difficult to add oil. The brake booster makes a perfect support for the oil bottle and funnel while it drains into the engine. On the passenger side you would have to hold the bottle and funnel yourself instead of the brake booster doing it for you.

Yeah, having to hold the bottle yourself would be asking too much.

Holding the bottle and funnel increases your chances of spills. Make a funnel out of a 2 liter soda bottle by cutting the bottom out of it. Turn it upside down in the oil fill. Drop the oil bottle upside down inside the soda bottle and let the brake booster hold everything in place and you will never spill a drop on the engine. Pouring by hand isn't going to get you results that good.

Maybe in some cases the booster hose gets in the way. In the posted photos you can see it, but actually its supposed to be routed through the spark plug wire T hole which moves it out of the way.
