Using shims on a hood hinge?

    My hood has been out of alignment since I got the car. Yesterday I got it straightened up but I noticed that the gap was tighter on the passenger side than on the drivers side. Can you use shims on a hinge to even out the gaps? I aligned it so that the stripes were straight.

    Every hinge has shims from the factory. The ans is yes.

    My hood gaps are just like yours. If I try to correct it the hood stripes would be off. I'm fine with it.

    hood hinges do Not have shims from the factory.

    I've never seen 2nd gen hood ever with a shim. There shouldn't be any needed to adjust hood gaps.There is a lot of adjustment in the hood hinges. Post some pictures of what you have? Im sure there is a answer for your situation.
