My hood has been out of alignment since I got the car. Yesterday I got it straightened up but I noticed that the gap was tighter on the passenger side than on the drivers side. Can you use shims on a hinge to even out the gaps? I aligned it so that the stripes were straight.

My hood gaps are just like yours. If I try to correct it the hood stripes would be off. I'm fine with it.

I've never seen 2nd gen hood ever with a shim. There shouldn't be any needed to adjust hood gaps. There is a lot of adjustment in the hood hinges. Post some pictures of what you have? Im sure there is a answer for your situation.
