Okay I am getting to the bottom of this. Looks like it is my Temp Gauge in the car that is screwy after all. Was working fine when I took it all apart. I got a couple of Temp Sending Units. One from Year One which is a GM Sending Unit and another from NAPA. I have yet to get the one from Ground Up Restorations out of NYC yet. I will test it when I get it. Here are the readings from a test of 4 Sending Units. These are all in OHM's.

ORIG OLD GM NEW GM NAPA
    Cold 0 70 64 67
    Hot 0 16 15.5 17.5

Cold being Room Temp (about 74 F) and Hot being 220 F. So other than the original that came on the car they all look fairly consitent. Now I guess I have to take the Cluster out to get to that Temp Gauge. If anyone wants the part numbers here they are.
    GM 478262
    NAPA TS6469
Note the GM and NAPA look identical. They probably come from the same vendor. I will post the results of the Gauge when I get it repaired (in about 2 years).

    Thanks for everybody's help.

The lastest news on this crisis, well not a crisis but things like this drive me nuts. Since the previous post (April) I have done absolutely nothing to the Temp Sending unit problem. I put a new one in (I think it was the GM one) and had the same problem.

Now get this, yesterday I load the Z28 to go have my hood aligned (different story) and guess what is working now? The temp gauge works fine now. Geeez these things drive me nuts. Now if the !@#$ Tach would start working live would be good again.

I was like 'WTF is this one doing back up top?' ...lol....

Well, guess it might have needed a few heat cycles to drop into place ? Ehh...well, I wish that was all the 'worries' I had on MY car..... [IMG]

Maybe if you get your trunk realigned the tach might start working again!

I know what you mean about the tach's as well. My origional tach would start bouncing around above 2,500 RPM and it was intermittent. Some days it worked and some not. I pulled it and TEMPORARALLY replaced it with one from late 70's Camaro. Someday after all of the other little problemn areas are taken care of I will drop the $$ to get it fixed or buy one of the $250 reconditioned ones from Year One or something.

    FSeventy,
Mine bounces at 25,000 rpm too, I think its SEVERE valve float...
J/K. I know that was a typo. Wonder what a SBC would sound like at 25,000 rpm?

Now I found the correct post for my sending unit info...on another note I had my 8k tach repaired by a guy near Pittsburgh for $125 and I works great. Mine used to stick at 3500, and at 2000 on the way down. I have his info if anyone needs it. Greg
