Just got back from emergency room, got bit by a Brown Recluse spider on my forearm sometime during the night. You rarely feel the bite, but it turns into a painful lump and if left untreated flesh will start deteriorate, in my case I had a red line from the bite traveling up my arm.
Put me on some strong antibiotics, told to keep a eye on it. DOH !!

They say that over the course of your life you will eat 12 spiders, that crawl into your mouth while sleeping, glad it didn't make it to there, you must have felt the tickle of it crawling on you and swatted at it.

Best of luck on the recovery. ( word to the weak..., whatever you do not google images ). - Years ago I got bit by what was evidently a young one which don't have the higher concentration of venom that the adult spiders do. And even that left an indent and a trail down my leg for weeks.

Running joke around my house is that anytime a spider turns up in the house, my girlfriend says..., "OMG, that's a brown recluse" - It could be a tiny green spider, orange tarantula, wolf spider, black widow..., doesn't matter, she is so petrified, they are all brown recluses in her mind. - I just toss them outside.

Sounds like you got a handle on it soon enough.

I hear that Brother Jack Daniels makes a pretty good antidote.

Hope you get well soon. :)

    That would be me :(
Not sure if I eat them, but because I've lived out in the boonies for the last 20 years, I wake up with bites fairly often??
Then I scratch & pick at them and make it worse :(

I'm still finding these in my house or in the garage and they're big !!! , I've also have big Desert Brown Wolf spiders

I'm more worried about my (3) cats being bitten by these Brown Widows especially my 5 yr old Maine Coon who is always playing with them until he kills It or it escapes
