rope steering wheel

    what is the best thing to clean that stickey rubbery mess off of a steering wheel that has been sitting in a car for about 15 years.:confused: :confused:

    I used castrol super clean.
    That was a year ago, and it is getting slightly sticky again.

    i used degreaser and then pressure washed it.

    came up with this.

    Prepsol that you would normall use to clean a car before painting.It took all the icky off my dashpad and brought the color back too.

    paint thinner!!! or gasoline!!! and a rag...

    Just be careful that the steering wheel itself doesnt fall apart.

    That's the same wheel and color I have in my '79.

    So it's something in the wheel that comes out over time? I thought it was the guys sticky hands I bought the car from.

    I let mine sit in a vat of purple something degreaser from the auto parts store.

    Comes with age/deterioration. Common problem.
