raised white lettering

Discussion in 'Detailing Topic' started by parts_master1, Sep 9, 2012.

  1. I have noticed that the lettering on my tires has turned yellow and now is turning brown. I have scrubbed on them with simple green and bleachwhite and nothing seems to work. Yesterday, I used a little orange/pumice hand cleaner and it worked but took like 5 minutes per letter. I do not have the patients to work them all:mad: They look like crap though.

Does anyone know what causes this? these tires are about a year old, maybe 1,000 miles.

Does anyone have any great ideas for getting them white again that does not involve me killing myself?

I dab a little bit of alcohol on a rag and clean each letter, it's a pita but I don't have to do it that often.

Back in the day we use to use a Brillo pad. Worked great.
  4. I will try the alcohol, I wonder if wiskey will work:p

Brillo pad would not work, it's like the top surface is changing color.

Get some Westley's Bleche-Wite Tire cleaner, it works great.

Stop using Armorall on them or other cheap silicone spray.
