contemplating putting my plow truck on the road. . but not sure if it will pass inspection. . previous owner had it inspected. the sticker is good till April.
thing is, the front driver side bed mount rotted away, so the bed sits lopsided by the cab.
and the mount for the forward fuel tank strap rotted. so prev owner secured it with 2 ratchet straps. one going across the bottom, rail to rail. and one wrapped around the tank to the d/s rail. its secure. aint going no where. but doubt it would pass the visual. frame itself is solid. no cracks. no rot.

vehicle in question is a 1989 chevy k2500

am i right? I am in Ulster county if it matters.

I'm almost positive it will pass as long as there is no frame cracks/holes/extensive rust. You could pull the bed off and as long as there are working rear lights it will pass. As far as the tank drill a few holes and bolt some metal straps across it to do the job. It doesn't have to look pretty. ;)

Do you have a friend with a garage? Use that garage, sounds like it will pass though.

Fuel tanks and lines will only fail NYSI if they are leaking.
