Powdercoat hood hinge?

    When hood is up the spring is stretched outward. Place several washers in between the coils . As you lower the hood the spring contracts enough to loose the spring. It helps to have second person to hood hold as you do each side . If replacing springs with new ones,place one end in a vise and bend back and forth placing washers as you go to stretch it out. The hood should be almost closed but still enough room to reach in and change springs out.

    It's the other way around, when the hood is up the springs are in the "rest" position and when the hood is closed they are "stretched out"

    Yep I believe you are correct Brown77Z28. I looked at my hinges yesterday and noticed that as they would close the spring would be getting stretched. This would be correct since the spring helps lift the hood by the tension on the spring.

    These are the ones I have started powder coating.The first coat is a base chrome , then I will candy coat my final color over it with powder coating .
