    Are the cut outs on your 74 covers 3 1/2 & 5 " ?

Interesting that those covers have the same two casting numbers as my set of 70 covers in post #1, but not the third number that is cast into mine. Apparently not all the covers came from the same molds.

Just got these valve covers, look like 70 covers.
Cut outs are 3.50 and 5.00 inch.
    Not sure about breather tube.

These are on my Survivor 44k mile 1971 LT1 Corvette - I just adjusted the valves earlier today and took some pictures.

Here is a little trick I use... using the brown doping type gasket cement... I put down a 1/16-1/8" thick smear around the entire inside then put the CORK gaskets in put them face to face run some 1/4 bolts through run nuts down snug and leave them over night... WIPE the gaskets with grease prior to installing and they will not stick to the heads and they will not fall out when trying to get them into place... THIS SAVES MAJOR HEADACHES and your valve covers will not leak.

Those covers have the numbers I expected to see on a set of '71 covers. I can't be sure, but I believe that '72 covers should be the same.

I never realized there was a difference, especially since my brother's 73 Z w/ L82 has the twist in cap with finned covers which appear "AT A GLANCE" the same.

That is the great thing. They all look basically the same from the outside, but inside we see small differences and part number changes to reflect the changes.
