The box for the head unit swivels toward the passenger or driver. To make it tight I used thrust bearings - they are cheap on Amazon.
This is the bearing setup just below the box - there is also a small one under the nut (the other end) This allows the bolt to swivel with the head unit and not loosen up. I may put a little swivel motor on it later..

I have also started making door handles..

The next project to start is the door panels.. I ordered 3 way separate speakers for the doors and will build them into an oak and aluminum door panel.. I'm waiting for the speakers to be delivered.

SO the hole in the floor was too big as the 6 speed comes through further back and the the passenger side (it's now centered). I thought about getting some steel and welding it up.. Then I thought who knows? - maybe Ill want to put a 4 speed back in later (doubt it but). So I decided to get some rubber. I found thick neoprene rubber on amazon and used hurst shifter boot mount hardware. This is before I cut it to size..

Below are the side panels for the console. The strange grain is called 'English Oak'. I saved the few of the boards I had over the years and used them for this project.

Thanks Brett! Itching to drive it again. It's been so long! Your car looks nice. I had a similar 76 back in the 80's

I keep redesigning things. This one I like. The dash is next to the piano but going in soon. Timing computer now where the radio was.
You can see my bald head in the head unit. It's a pioneer 8200NEX. My first rear view camera!

Wanted this close by before I perform engine break-in.
Coolant, fuel, ps lines.. I wonder where the leak will be? No where right? :)

It's Halon - no residue. Looking for an interior mount location. I think I like the: front of passenger seat bracket. Will install seats and check it out.

    Thanks!

It's alive and cranking! No fuel yet, a week or two.
First time the starter moved in decades!

    Started soundproofing.. Notice something different?

No rear deck. I welded in a 12 gua steel box beam between the frame rails under that sheet metal cover to account for any loss of rigidity.
Battery is in rear pass side.. Sub woofer going in left rear.
I ordered 'Alvin - Truflex 11088:II 40" Lightweight Flexible Curve White - A1044-40' to assist in making rear panels. Probably going with OAK to match console.
Going to sound proof inner rear fenders and every where else in the back in an attempt to minimize road noise from the rear - plus muffs will not be quiet.

3 speakers in each door, just ordered rear speakers (4), JL HD900/5 channel amp, and one 10" sub, all Hertz speakers.
Probably going to mount rear speakers in sail panel area.

Just received rear glass and ordered a new window for drivers' door.. original has scratches.

Just mounted one of the power mirrors. I found an NOS switch from a Buick that I liked. Took a while but I also found the female harness for it (both from ebay). Had to hack open a section of the inner door skin to enable access to the bolts. They mount with no outside screw as do the original mirrors.

Mirror switch in center, window switches came from Watsuns Streetworks in NH. Not really in love with them. hopefully they will grow on me. Top 3 are for door and trunk pops. They are military surplus.
