My 74 rear end what do I have

    It looks like some kind of spool with no differential action. If so, it is bad for use on the street.
    A GM rear end should look like this inside.

    Yeah I have no differential. I'm trying to figure out how do I get the axles out if I have no c clips.

    Must have C clip eliminators. Pull the drums off and look behind the axle flange. There should be an aftermarket bearing retainer bolted to the backing plate/housing flange.

    Yes I figured it out well I can't change out the differential now so I'm gonna drive it until I tear it up.

    You can still put a posi or one wheel in there with c-clip eliminators. Eliminators do just what the name implies, eliminates the c-clips. All the other guts in there will work just fine. Just make sure if you have after market axles that whatever new diff you get matches the splines.

    Ok cool. I'm gonna spin tires with the spool for a while with the ls 5.3
