Replaced the 1-piece Fel-Pro PermaDry Plus (don't know the part #) with another Fel-Pro 1-piece PermaDry Plus OS 34509T. Did so while replacing the leaking rear main seal. Fel-Pro tech said this is part # I need. The box also ids as 350 1967-1971
    • The previous 1-piece had already been installed twice
    • The previous gasket did not leak, only the rms.
    • The oil pan has a very slight tad of wobble at one corner
Started up the engine and less than one minute (with some engine rev) found this on the floor. I could see oil on the bottom of the front seal. No oil was coming from anywhere else. (By the time I took the photo the oil had spread out ).

Checked the torque on the end bolts and as called for (18ft lbs)

The bottom of the seal is loose. Came move it with my finger

With more info from Fel-Pro tech, the root cause of the leak is the oil pan (1986 purchase from a Chevy dealership) being for a 1975 and later which used the thick seal 2 3/8". The 09T (with the thinner front seal 2 1/4") is the correct for 1971.

The rear seal remained the same size

Ordered the 10T rather than replace the oil pan

Apology to Fel-Pro tech and a pox on the Chevy dealership
