I have a 73 Z28. I installed a Tremec 3550 which I think has the same external dimensions and shifter locations as the TKO600. I lowered the engine and trans down about 1/2” or so from place where it sat with old 4 speed when I adapted the transmission crossmember by cutting it. The new shifter worked with only slight trimming of steel floor around hole. The shifter works in the factory center 4 speeed console.

Anybody have a pic of where the factory TKO shifter stub sits in regards to the OE 4 speed shifter hole?

Yes Jeep43, my install need some minor tweaks but mine was a craigslist buy. If you buy from SST you will have the shifter back about 3 inches which will put it right where it needs it.

I have a T56 magnum with the tall solid body bushings from PTFB and it fits great.

    Jeep43,
Since you did the mechanical T56 almost 20 years ago, what would you want to change this time?
    Shifter position?
    Mechanical speedo drive?
    Crossmember?
    Exhaust clearance?
    Differential ratio?
    Gear ratios?
    Clutch?
    Flywheel?
    Starter?
I kept my front adapter plate that is adapted for mechanical (but the trans. got adapted to LS input / plate)

My TKO600 was from Hurst Driveline, I'm not sure how much the fitment / exterior of the trans would change but mine did fit with no real cutting in the floor. I used Hurst's Blackjack shifter which did allow me to offset to the left a little.
