LT1 T56 swap confusion

    Thanks so much for the info, really clears things up. Seems a lot simpler now, shorten the driveshaft, get a mount bracket plate for the master cylinder, get a yoke and a starter and the rest all came with the tranny and bolt it up.

    I used a Vortec mini starter in my case, but I have a custom Centerforce flywheel (for 2-piece seal). I think it will work the same with the LT1 flywheel. Just get the LT1 mini starter, should be the about the same price. About 10lbs lighter than a typical 2nd gen starter, and requires less cranking amps, too, if you're inclined to reduce battery size for weight savings. I'm using a Group51R battery, Honda Civic sized. 25lbs instead of 38-42. I want a lithium battery, but I'm also kind of a cheapskate. :D
