i know this has probably be beaten to death already. However, I am in the need of help. My new 5.3 lm7 is on the way and will be picked up tomorrow. I plan on using the t-10 that's in the car already until I can save up and get a t56. I know hooker/holleys kit is complete for a t56 swap. If I buy those headers and the motor mounts, will they work for the t-10? Or will I need different mounts

I was leaning on buying parts from their kit because I know I might the future when I have the t56 it will all go together smoothly. But I think their mounts put the motor in stock location and I'm not sure that's what I need

Their mounts will put your 10 about half an inch out of place or so, maybe 1in. I mocked my T10 up with the hooker mounts and need to redrill xmember holes a little bit but it's no big deal. Use fourth gen camaro headers if you are looking to save money. You will need to bend the collectors a bit,.

Should I buy the mounts? Or just the bracket plates

Haven't got that far yet. Considering you usually put your yolk one inch out of the trans output shaft to measure for your shaft, then you move your shaft one inch forward you better believe you're not gonna have any yolk left in the trans which would mean extending the drive shaft.

Buy the hooker engine mounts and a set of $20 SBC clamshell mounts, then install energy clamshell inserts in the $20 mounts and bolt the thing together.

You can look a my thread below about the LSX swap and zbar. Kind of similar, but I used carshop 1" setback plates with std small block rubber mounts and I used the LS 4-Speed Conversion Kit by Pace Performance. The issue I am running into is which swap headers will fit the best in my 71. You can read the thread, but a believe the t-10 will hit your stock trans cross-member correctly if you use the 1" setbacks as my muncie did. I like the hooker header design but still cannot confirm if they will work with other mounts. Are you going to stay with the z-bar clutch linkage?
