I am looking for the rubber inserts for my '76 Camaro's "protective side moldings". The "protective side moldings" are chrome, run wheel well to wheel well, and have long rubber inserts. The inserts used to be sold separately. All I can find are new "protective side moldings", and they come as a set with the inserts installed. They also cost about $180! I'd like to drill the rivets, remove the moldings, and replace the shrunken rubber,...but I'll leave 'em where they are at if I can't find the inserts! Thank you, Todd.
I currently have a unused set of replacement side molding I would sell you for $100. Send me a PM if you are interested Here is the link to the ad http://lasalle.craigslist.org/pts/5557482115.html
http://b-dco.com/solid-black-molding/ Check this website for 3M tape backed products which might work if the dimensions are good. I purchased from here for tail panel trim and plan to get more for the same task you have. My edge guards aren't as nice as the ones harbone66 is selling and the 3M product will need to be shaped at the edges but will work for me. http://www.nastyz28.com/forum/showthread.php?t=299291
No thanks, guys. I want to keep my 1976 chrome. I only want to replace the rubber strips. I'll keep looking,...my original rubber will pass just fine, in the meantime. Todd.
I am taking the factory side molding off my 79z,it has the black plastic/rubber inserts.contact me if interested.i have posted about these in the body thread.
Thanks,...my chrome is perfect. And my rubber would be, except that it has shrunk in length over the years (or Chevy just cut it haphazardly,...), and it's dark brown (due to the car's original color), instead of black. I'd just like it all to be cut to proper length,...the passenger's side is just fine. But the driver's side rubber exposes the rivets that fasten the molding to the exterior of the car. NPD, Classic Ind., and D&R all used to sell the insert replacement in rolls,...perhaps no more. Thanks, Todd.
Found it with a forum member's help! Check out the "Body Restoration" section on the forum here,... Todd.
